Turn 1

The Allies contest the Mediterranean, place heavy squadrons in the North Sea and South Atlantic, and send 3 old battleships to the North Atlantic. The German fleet sorties into the North Atlantic, leaving one pocket battleship to control the Barents Sea. The Italians take up the British challenge.

Turn 2

The Allies again contest the Mediterranean, send heavy squadrons to the North Sea and North Atlantic, while placing a weaker force in the South Atlantic. The Germans patrol the Baltic and Barents seas, while the Italians stay in port and repair damage. The U-boats contest the South Atlantic. There are no losses from ASW, U-boat, or LBA attacks. The POC remains at +2 in favor of the Axis. At the end of the turn, all British ships return from the Mediterranean to England.

Turn 3

The Allies send strong fleets to both the North Sea and the Barents to establish the blockade. Convoy 1A remains in the United States and no Allied ships patrol the North Atlantic. The Eagle, a battleship, and four cruisers patrol the South Atlantic to discourage an Italian sortie. The Marat sails out into the Baltic as Hitler invades the Soviet Union. The fast German ships sail unopposed to the North Atlantic hoping to rendezvous with the Italian cruisers in the South Atlantic after basing in France at the end of the turn. The heavy German ships conduct gunnery practice, sinking the Marat in the Baltic. The Luftwaffe only manages to disable two British ships to Russia, but Bomber Command sinks two of the Italian cruisers in the Mediterranean. As a result the Kriegsmarine returns all of its ships to Germany at the end of the turn. The POC total increases to +5 in favor of the Axis.

Leningrad: 3-3-3 Okt. Revolutia

United States: 1-3-3 Convoy 1A

Turn 4

Allies patrol Barents Sea with large fleet of modern battleships and send fleet of old battleships to North Sea. A couple of carriers, one old battleship, and a few cruisers (including the recently released American cruiser, Wichita) are deployed in the North Atlantic (to protect Convoy 1A) and the South Atlantic (to scare away the lone Italian cruiser).

The German surface fleet sorties into the North Sea seeking to avenge its defeat at Jutland in the previous war, while the U-boats sneak out into the South Atlantic for target practice. The weakened Italian fleet sorties out into the Mediterranean and threatens to bombard Malta.

Allied ASW disables 3 U-boats, while the LBA disables an Italian battlecruiser. The 3 remaining U-boats in the South Atlantic sink the Eagle, while the Axis LBA hits both the Ark Royal and the Formidable in the Barents Sea. The Ark Royal takes 2 points of damage and the Formidable is sunk. If the German fleet is able to sink one or both of the Allied carriers in the North Sea, this will be a very dark day for Allied naval aviation.

The carrier airstrikes in the North Sea (4 Allied and 2 Axis) inflict 5 points of damage on the Bismarck, sink the Admiral Scheer, and disable the Rodney. During the first round of surface combat, the Bismarck is disabled, the Tirpitz sustains 7 points of damage and is disabled, the Nelson is also disabled, the Renown and Cumberland are sunk, and the Royal Oak takes 2 more points of damage.

The British stay for another round of combat and manage to disable the Gneisenau to France with 5 points of damage. In return the German ships sink the Royal Oak, sink the Repulse, and disable the Dorsetshire to England. Only Allied carriers are left in the North Sea to face the German carrier, pocket battleships, and cruisers. Both the Courageous and the Victorious are disabled by pursuit fire. With the North Sea controlled by the Kriegsmarine, the POC total increases to +8 in favor of the Axis.

North Atlantic: 1-3-3 Convoy 1A, 0-1-6(2) Glorious, 1-1-7 Norfolk, 1-1-7 Suffolk, 1-1-7 Sussex, 1-1-7 Wichita

Leningrad: 3-3-3 Okt. Revolutia

United States: 1-3-3 Convoy 2B

Turn 5

The Okt. Revolutia and all of the remaining Amercian ships (except the Augusta) are released at the start of Turn 5. The undamaged German ships go to the Baltic to eliminate the last Russian ship, while the wolfpack ensures that the Allies do not control the North Sea and try to sink another British carrier (it is only disabled). With Convoy 1A reaching Russia, the POC total is now only +5 in favor of the Axis.

North Atlantic: 1-3-3 Convoy 2B, 0-1-6(2) Glorious, 5-5-4 Washington, 4-4-3 New York, 4-4-3 Texas, 1-1-7 Tuscaloosa, 1-1-7 Wichita

Russia: 0-2-7(3) Ark Royal (repairs 2 damage)

Turn 6

The Augusta remains in port, while the other American ships and the Courageous escort Convoy 3C in the North Atlantic. Most of the British fleet is divided between the Barents Sea and the North Sea, but only the Glorious, the Royal Sovereign, and 3 cruisers patrol the South Atlantic. The Axis send all available ships to the South Atlantic, except for the Bismarck that cruises the Baltic, the Tirpitz that stays in Germany for repairs, and the Italian battleships that cruise the Mediterranean.

The Luftwaffe manages to disable Convoy 2B back to the United States and the Warspite back to Russia from the Barents Sea. Bomber Command tries to hit the Tirptiz, under repair in Germany, but fails.

In the South Atlantic, the Allied ASW sinks 2 U-boats and disables 1 more. The 4 surviving U-boats sink the Royal Sovereign. The Swordfish from the Glorious cannot find the Axis fleet, but the Graf Zeppelin's airstrikes disable one of the British cruisers (the Suffolk) to South America. During the first round of surface combat, another British cruiser (the Norfolk) is sunk and the Gneisenau is disabled to the Neutral Port.

The Allies decide to retreat in one group. Axis pursuit fire disables the Sussex (which manages to sink the Blucher in return) and then sink the Glorious. At the end of Turn 6 the Axis controls the Baltic Sea, the South Atlantic, and the Mediterranean for 6 POC, while the Allies control the North Sea, the Barents Sea, and the North Atlantic for 3 POC. The cumulative POC is once again +8 in favor of the Axis.

North Atlantic: 1-3-3 Convoy 3C, 0-1-6(2) Courageous, 5-5-4 Washington, 4-4-3 New York, 4-4-3 Texas, 1-1-7 Tuscaloosa, 1-1-7 Wichita

Germany: 4+9-6 Tirpitz (repairs 4 damage points), *-*-*(3) Allied LBA

Italy: 4-3-5 Guilio Cesare

Russia: 1-3-3 Convoy 1A

Turn 7

The Augusta finally leaves port to patrol the North Atlantic and help the other American ships protect Convoy 2B against the German U-boats. The British ships redeploy to cover the Barents Sea, the North Sea, and the South Atlantic in roughly equal strength. The Axis ships in the Neutral Port steal away to the Mediterranean Sea. None of the ships requiring speed rolls (two British battleships and three German warships) experience mechanical problems; all of the speed rolls are successful this turn. Reinforced by most of the German fleet (only the Bismarck and Tirpitz remain in Germany and the Baltic, respectively) the Italian Navy steams majestically around the Mediterranean, daring the British to return for a final showdown on Turn 8.

The Axis LBA once again disables the Warspite from the Barents Sea to Russia. Convoy 3C is not hit and will reach its destination this turn. Will the German U-boats enjoy a final "happy time" in the North Atlantic this turn? No, the American ASW sinks three of them and even though the 3 remaining U-boats manage to hit Convoy 2B, they only inflict 3 points of damage. Convoy 2B is still afloat. The Allies gain 3 POC this turn, and the cumulative total is back down to +5 POC in favor of the Axis again.

North Atlantic: 1-3-3 Convoy 2B (hit; -3d), 5-5-4 Washington, 4-4-3 New York, 4-4-3 Texas, 1-1-7 Augusta, 1-1-7 Tuscaloosa, 1-1-7 Wichita, 1-0-* U-Boat (sunk), 1-0-* U-Boat (sunk), 1-0-* U-Boat (sunk), 1-0-* U-Boat, 1-0-* U-Boat, 1-0-* U-Boat

Germany: 4+9-6 Bismarck (repairs 3 damage points)

Russia: 1-3-3 Convoy 1A

Turn 8

The Americans patrol the North Atlantic while the British fleet is divided between the Barents Sea, the North Sea, and the South Atlantic. Three of the remaining British carriers defend the damaged Convoy 2B in the Barents Sea, but the Axis LBA manages to once again disable the convoy back to the United States. In the South Atlantic the remnants of the U-boat wolfpack are attacked by ASW from 3 battleships and 4 cruisers; only 1 U-boat is disabled. The three slow German ships all failed their speed rolls attempting to move from Italy to the South Atlantic. The Graf Zeppelin, escorted by three Axis cruisers, agrees to a truce to avoid further bloodshed. The Axis wins by 5 POC.
