The Allies open with a modified Barents on 1 setup, sending Ark Royal, Hood, Renown, Repulse, and 7 cruisers to the Barents. The North Atlantic is defended by Courageous, 3 slow (4-4-3) battleships, and a cruiser. The South Atlantic is defended by Eagle, Nelson, Rodney, and 2 slow battleships. Both battlecruisers reach the Barents.
The Germans and Italians send all available surface ships to the South Atlantic. All three of the pocket battleships reach their destination. The U-boats stay in the Baltic to practice avoiding depth charge attacks, and four of the Italian battleships (2x4-6-6 and 2x4-3-5) patrol the Mediterranean.
Bomber Command only disables 1 of the Italian battlecruisers, but the Luftwaffe draws first blood by sinking both the Ark Royal and a British cruiser. The Eagle's airstrike misses as a furious surface action commences in the South Atlantic. In 4 rounds of action, the Nelson, Rodney, Royal Oak, Eagle, Gneisenau, Scharnhorst, Admiral Scheer, and Lutzow are all sunk. The Royal Sovereign takes two points of damage and is disabled to the Neutral Port. It is joined there by a disabled Graf Spee and the Italian cruisers. Both German cruisers successfully oil at sea after combat ends.

The Allies again send forces to both Atlantic Oceans, the Barents Sea, and the North Sea. The new fast battleships pass their speed rolls to the Barents. With only 3 carriers available, the British decide not to send a carrier to the South Atlantic.
The Axis fleet again contests the South Atlantic, this time with the support of 4 U-boats. The 2 new German ships conduct shake-down cruises in the Baltic (taunting the Russian fleet).
Both the Luftwaffe and Bomber Command fail to hit their targets this turn. Allied ASW sinks 2 U-boats in the South Atlantic, but the U-boats miss. During the first round of surface combat the Allied fleet can only disable three of the Axis ships. The return fire sinks the Warspite and puts 2 points of damage on the Valiant. Still facing 2 battleships, a battlecruiser, and 2 cruisers, the remaining Axis ships (Graf Spee, a German cruiser, and 2 Italian cruisers) decide to retreat. The Allied squadron does not pursue (both of the battleships are too slow).
At the end of turn 2 the POC remains at +2 in favor of the Axis (each side earns 3 POC).

The Russian ships decide to stay in port, avoiding the U-boats and German battleships. The British Navy deploys in the usual four areas, but the Prince of Wales experiences engine trouble on the way to the Barents Sea and puts into Russia. The Axis High Command seizes this opportunity to attack the convoy in the North Atlantic and the carrier in the Barents Sea.
Bomber Command disables an Italian battlecruiser, and the Luftwaffe disables the Hood to Russia. The Swordfish from Formidable place minor damage (1d) on Tirpitz. In surface combat in the Barents the King George V hits Bismarck (2d) and disables her to Germany. In return the German ships disable all three of the remaining Allied surface combatants in the Barents. The Prinz Eugen then pursues and on the third salvo sinks the British carrier. In the North Atlantic things do not go well for the Axis. Graf Spee has engine trouble and returns to Brest. The airstrikes from the Courageous sink the Admiral Hipper. Then Allied salvos from the battleships and cruisers sink the Blucher and the Pola. The other three Itlaian cruiser turn tail and run for France. Axis fire only manages to put 1 point of damage on the Repulse.

Leningrad: 3-3-3 Marat (AR=2), 3-3-3 Okt. Revolutia (AR=4)
Marat sorties from Leningrad into the Baltic, but none of the American ships leave port. The British return to patrol the usual four sea areas. The reduced Axis forces contest the Baltic and the South Atlantic. A wolfpack of 5 U-boats surfaces in the South Atlantic to increase the odds of success.
This time Allied ASW is ineffective in the South Atlantic, while the U-boats disable the Anson to South America and sink the Duke of York to avenge the earlier loss of 2 U-boats. The remaining British cruisers are no match for the Graf Spee and the Italian cruisers, though only 1 cruiser is sunk on each side.
In the Barents the Luftwaffe manages to disable Convoy 1A back to the United States. In the Baltic the Kriegsmaring suffers another setback as the Marat sinks the Prinz Eugen while being disabled with only 1 point of damage. The Tirpitz is definitely in need of expedited repairs to its fire control systems.
By turning back the convoy and controlling the South Atlantic, the Axis increases its lead by 3 POC to a total of 6 POC.

On turn 5 four of the American ships (2 BB and 2 CA) join the convoy escorts in the North Atlantic. The Marat again sorties into the Baltic Sea but is disabled back to Leningrad by the Graf Zeppelin's airstrike.
Because of heavy surface ship losses, the Axis must rely on the Luftwaffe and the U-boat wolfpack to stop the convoys. This is the turn to risk U-boat losses since the Axis receives 3 U-boat replacements on turn 6. The Graf Spee runs for safety in the Mediterranean but is sunk there by the Bomber Command.
Allied ASW sinks 2 U-boats and disables 3, leaving 2 U-boats to shoot at the convoy. Convoy 2B avoids the torpedoes and reaches Russia for 3 POC as the Luftwaffe misses also. The POC total is now only 3 in favor of the Axis side.

Another American cruiser is released for duty in the North Atlantic. Both Russian ships remain in port where the Marat repairs its damage. The U-boats again miss the convoy in the Barents Sea (this time on 3 shots), so the POC total becomes even.

Russia: 1-3-3 Convoy 2B (Turn 5)
Leningrad: 3-3-3 Marat (AR=4) (repairs 1 point of damage), 3-3-3 Okt. Revolutia (AR=2)
The last American ship is activated and the Marat again sails into the Baltic Sea. The U-boat wolfpack goes to the North Sea, where one U-boat is sunk and two are disabled. The remaining U-boats attack the British carriers but miss completely.
The Luftwaffe again misses in the Barents, but the Graf Zeppelin puts 3 points of damage on the Marat. Unfortunately the combined fire of the Bismarkc and Tirpitz can only disable the Marat back to Leningrad.
Convoy 3C reaches Russia to give the Allies a 3 POC lead. By breaking control of the North Sea the Axis set the stage for a final showdown with the British Navy on turn 8.

Four U-boats survive the Allied ASW in the South Atlantic, but only disable one of the British battleships. Both the Allied and Axis airstrkes misss. The Italian cruisers are sunk on the first round of surface combat, and the Graf Zeppelin is sunk on the second round.
