Turn 1

Jonathan Lockwood, taking the British with a bid of 1, set up for Barents-on-1 putting the two 5-5-4s and the QE in North Atlantic, four 4-4-4s and Eagle in South Atlantic. Barents and North Sea were strong, so the Kriegsmarine (minus Graf Spee patrolling Baltic) sailed to North Atlantic and the subs to South Atlantic. Jonathan's dice were sub-par and Michael's were super-par. The subs painlessly decontrolled South Atlantic. Nelson and QE kissed the bottom and Rodney limped home with 5 hits. Adm. Scheer suffered a paint scrape. Scharnhorst, Genisenau and Blucher, the only German ships still at sea, oiled successfully. Score: +4 Axis.

Jonathan Lockwood (Allies) versus Michael Anchors (Axis). Turn 4. Score +6

Axis.

Barents-on-One in trouble from the start when three German capital ships

oiled in the NATL. British dice cold. British lost Rodney, Nelson, Repulse,

QE and Ark Royal. One convoy sunk by subs in NATL. The other disabled in

Barents by the Luftwaffe. All German ships undamaged. U-boats at six.

Giulio Cesare has a bent flagpole.

Anchors (Axis) defeated Lockwood (Allies) in the WAS tournament. Lockwood

bid 1 VP for the Allies. Lockwood surrendered at end of Turn 7. Score 4+

Axis.

Details: Lockwood played Barents-on-1. Axis won the NATL and oiled both

battlecruisers and a CA. Second turn, Axis won again in the NATL and went

home. U-boats sank a convoy and decontrolled an area each turn. British

dice were cold. At start of Turn 7 Axis had lost only 1 ship, the Pola, and

had no ships damaged. British had lost Ark, 4 BBs and a CA. In appropriate

desperation, Lockwood offerred battle in the Barents with the last convoy, a

carrier and the Anson class of BBs. The Luftwaffe disabled two BBs and

damaged two more. The British sank Graf Spee. The German fire sank/disabled

all remaining British BBs except the cruiserized POW. Least-valuable-player

Award goes to the Soviet Navy which did not leave port until Turn 7. I'd

have said the war displayed the vulnerability of Barents-on-1 to oiling, but

Jonathan's dice really were cold; the outcome should have been closer.

Final score 4+ Axis. Turn 7.
